Hello,
I recently came across a post in the Veeam Community discussing an environment where Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) was enabled for the root password on Proxmox servers to enhance security. However, after this change, all Veeam Backup jobs started failing when attempting to authenticate with the Proxmox host.
Currently, it seems that Veeam requires root access and does not support 2FA for authentication. To maintain security while ensuring backup functionality, I would love to see the possibility of incorporating the following features:
Support for 2FA authentication when integrating with Proxmox.
Option to use an API key or alternative authentication method instead of disabling 2FA for the root user.
Possibility to configure a dedicated user with the necessary permissions for backup operations.
Best regards,
