Instant VM recovery to cloud
Has anyone tried to recover a VM from vault backup to azure cloud? How long did it take? I have not been able to find anyone or any documents where this process is explained. I know vault is not really intended for DR Services per say but my understanding is that it is possible to perform Instant VM recovery from Vault to Azure cloud. Thank you.

Restore should work quite fast assuming you're restoring within the same data center.
*Instant* VM recovery to Azure cloud is not available in V12 in principle, however it's coming in V13.

Additionally, it’s important to remember that Veeam Data Cloud Vault is a standard object storage repository, which supports all common types of restores. These include full machine recovery back into the infrastructure, guest file recovery, application item recovery, and many others.

Re: Instant VM recovery to cloud
I am talking about a DR scenario where the on-prem Infra is not available due for ransomware or other , and we need to recover from Veeam Data Cloud Vault to Azure.
I want to know how quickly this can be done and what the steps would be . I don't see anyone talking about this anywhere. I could be not looking in the right place.

Re: Instant VM recovery to cloud
Probably because restore to Azure is a relatively old functionality. On the last Sales Kickoff before COVID, we had a service provider from New York area speaking, and his entire business was focused on DR to Azure with Veeam.
The only thing "new" is Veeam Data Cloud Vault offering, which is probably why you're not seeing anyone talking about it anywhere YET. However Veeam Vault runs on the same old Azure Blob Storage, so there's no technical difference.

I'm not sure I follow your comment. Perhaps you misunderstood what I said because why would you look for alternatives to something that is so proven?

Re: Instant VM recovery to cloud
ok so if I understand correctly Instant VM recovery to Azure Cloud is not available in v12 but is on the list for v13.
Regular full VM recovery to Azure is still possible using direct restore from Veeam Data Cloud Vault.
Correct?
