Stopping a running job

Post by ordinary »

Stopping a running job
Is there any pros and cons to stop a running job
What if we ignore the warning “Backup files for this job will be left inconsistent state “

It's okay. You do reboot the server occasionally, right? That also terminates the job, so nothing new that you are already not "doing".

Since the job is not really continuos, but it refers to starting a new execution as soon as one finishes, you can also disable the job and wait for the running execution to finish.

Luca is spot on. This is much more clean way of doing the same.

that is of coourse asuming yu can actually stop a running job!! i've have generally unfavourable results trying to stop a running job. better to disable it and wait for the current job to stop. for me, almost every time i've tried to "stop" a job, i've ended up with hung jobs and db clean up to do to fix it. my recomendation is avoid using the stop function unless its last resort!!

No problem at all here with stopping a job. Did you ever opened a ticket for further investigation why you cant stop your jobs?
