Veeam365 says Skipped when restoring Teams Site Notes

Hi guys,

We had 60 notes in a Teams group, one for each company that team works on, then yesterday (Tuesday) the whole lot disappeared.

We use Veeam365 to backup every hour. When I try to restore the backup of the Team - Channel - Other tabs it then says "Skipped" as the result. Today is Wednesday, I have done this for Monday, last Friday, Friday a week ago, and Friday a month ago, the result is the same.

I don't understand why it doesn't restore?

We are on 7.1.0.2031 P20240418 because we cannot go to version 8 with a Windows Server 2012 R2 backup server.

Teams Channel Notes are based on OneNote. And Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 cannot restore OneNote data for organizations with modern app-only authentication.
I believe thats why you see the skipped message.

Considerations & Limitations - Restore

Restore of OneNote notebooks from backups of Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Teams data for organizations with modern app-only authentication is not supported.

Fabian shared a valid point, but it's hardly related to skipping during Team restore.
If an item is skipped during restore, it typically means that it already exists in production, and there's nothing to recover.
Also, when you create a tab in Teams, it is linked to the related content and only displays it. Correspondingly, when you restore a tab, you restore a link to the content but not the content itself.

It seems that the "skipped" message occurs because Veeam cannot restore OneNote data for organizations using modern app-only authentication, as it's not supported for restoring from backups of Teams, SharePoint, or OneDrive.

Hi guys,

Everything has been restored, but it took almost 48 hours for the restored files to actually show up.

I think Charles984 is correct, it seems the Monday restore did work (I thought it failed since no Site Notes appeared after the restore), and the ones after that for previous times were the ones that said "Skipped", because as Charles984 says the data was there, I just couldn't see it, and the restore after that was just telling me that there was nothing to restore.
