Opening a backup takes a long time - Case #07659590
Hi Al,
We've recently upgraded from v7 to V8.1.1.159 and we are noticing a significant longer time for opening backups.
When we want to restore, for instance, a sharepoint site it will take about 30 minutes for the interface to "add the organisation". Clicking on the organisation to expand the sites then will take another 50 minutes. This makes performing an restore a long proces, especially when we need to check several points in time.......
during the long wait we see no big spikes in CPU or RAM usage so what is going on? What could be the bottleneck?
Setup:
1x main host. 8x vCPU, 32GB ram with local postgres db for config and nats.
8x proxy hosts, all with 8x vCPU and 64GB ram
storage: on-premise S3 ( Scality Ring v9 )

Thank you for the heads up.
I cannot recall any changes in 8.1.1.159 that could potentially impact loading backups for explore. Let's see if support engineers identify the root cause; otherwise RND will get involved to investigate it further.

That might be a good idea. As we've migrated from v7 our proxies are not yet in a pool and so our repositories are all assigned to one of the 8 proxies. When opening a restore point i do see that the respective proxy has an increased load as the VeeamArchiver.Proxy proces is taking up ~50% vCPU power and ~11GB of ram. It seems as if it's doing a lot of work just getting the backup content.
We would be more then willing to help Veeam RND to get to the root cause of this issue.

I experience the same issue since upgrading from 7 to 8. It was already an issue with 8.0.x. We dont have that much SPO sites but times are similiar or seem to be same, like 30 + 50 minutes.
Support was not able to fix this (I got some entries for config.xml and proxy.xml). Actually, I live with it...
