Sharepoint restore to 0 kb file

Post by JoshuaPostSAMC »

Using the Community Edition of Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 8.1.0.3503 P20250224 and I backed up a Sharepoint site that has about 40 GB in 150,000 files. (Community, so I can't post a case ID, hence my post here)

Using the Explorer for Sharepoint I am able to see the full file structure and all of the individual files. I can see the names and the file sizes. I then went to the entire Content>Documents folder and Save Library> As Files to an external drive to get the individual files.

The folder structure is there and I see the name of all of the files, but what made it to the external drive showed 0KB for all Word and Excel files, but PDF files show their proper size. Opening a PDF is fine, but trying to open a Word document shows an empty file. Excel shows a warning about the contents and the extension not matching and has nothing.
I also tried double clicking on the file directly in the Explorer for Sharepoint, but it also opens as a blank Word file.

So the restore isn't working, at least to local files, which is my entire use case.

Thoughts?

1. you are not on the latest version. run a update to 8.1.1
2. open a Veeam support case
