[FEATURE REQUEST] Show search progress
Hi,
Sometimes, when performing a search in backups, the list of results may remain empty or incomplete for many seconds because the search is so long.
It would be nice to know if the search is still running.
Maybe add a message when there's no results.
Thank you

Hi William,
How many backups do you have in total, and how long does it take to search for a backup? It might be a technical issue, and it may make sense to check the configuration database performance.
Thanks!

Re: [FEATURE REQUEST] Show search progress
Hi Petr,
Thank you for your help.
When I say long, I mean no more than 5-6 seconds, but that's enough to mislead us. Perhaps this happens when the VBR server is very busy.
Do you know an easy way to count the number of global backups (VM/Endpoint, disk, tape, cloud provider)?
What's “confusing” is when you enter the name of a machine and the list of results is empty or partial - you don't know if the search is still in progress, if there are no results or if the search has ended.
Let's take the machine names “SRVAPP1”, “SERVAPP2”,... “SERVAPP10”. If we enter “SERVAPP1” in the search, it happens that “SERVAPP10” is displayed first, but not “SERVAPP1”. We then think that “SERVAPP1” has not been saved, when in fact the search has not been completed.
Thanks

Re: [FEATURE REQUEST] Show search progress
Hi William,
Got it, thank you very much for the feedback!
Please allow me to point out the following:
1. We plan to show the search progress bar, but there is no ETA so far
2. We plan to add a "Nothing found" message if no backups are found, but there is no ETA so far
3. In v13, we will introduce some low-level optimizations at the configuration database level to accelerate the search operation itself
Stay tuned!
Thanks!

+1 for this request. We have ~300 backups containing more than 2000 servers, and it can take more than 20 seconds when doing a search.
