Oracle ACFS Support?

Post by mike.anderson »

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone knows if Oracle ACFS file system is supported?

Per the system requirements Oracle Linux 6-9 are supported.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... tml?ver=60

However, while the OS is supported I don't see ACFS on the list of supported file systems. That said, it's not explicitly called out as unsupported either.

Due to a couple of issues during the first backups I had to set my client up with the Snapshot-Less File-Level Backup.

I was able to backup and restore files from some ACFS mount points, but not others.

I opened a Veeam case (# 07691540) but was simply told it's not supported. Strictly speaking in that it's not on the list, I'm sure this is true, but it would seem it works in some instances. Is there plans to officially support it, and also, does anyone know of any limitations with it?

In my case the files from

Code: Select all

/mounta/foldera/folderb
restored fine, but when I went to restore files from

Code: Select all

/mountb/folderc/.folderd/
is when I ran into issues. I figured if anything hidden folders might not be supported?

Hello,

The workaround i used in the past to protect theses files on ACFS:
- Create a dedicated Agent Backup jobs with a node part of the cluster, mode file level backup.

Also another Agent backup jobs with all nodes, mode Entire Computer. ACFS mount points are automatically excluded.

Let's see if r&d team have something to suggest.

Hi Mike,

Veeam Agent for Linux doesn't support ACFS, which is why it's not listed among the supported file systems.
To back it up, you'll need a snapshotless file-level backup, as you've already done.
is when I ran into issues. I figured if anything hidden folders might not be supported?
Could you clarify the issue? I am trying to understand the relationship between ACFS and hidden directories.

Sure, I will try and clarify! There's not necessarily any relationship between ACFS and the hidden directories, it's just a correlation I picked up on.

Essentially, I've been asked to backup files in a hidden folder and while I can instruct the agent to back the files up, it appears I cannot restore anything as nothing beyond the hidden folder is available to restore or visible.

However, I had no issues restoring hidden files from other directories.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi Mike,

Thank you for the clarification. In this case, please continue with the Support team, as I see that the case is still open.
