Feature Request: Preserve custom VM Attributes During VM Restore

Post by MaximMo » 2 people like this post

Hello,

When restoring VMs, the custom attributes configured in vSphere on the original VMs are not restored.
After opening a case at Veeam support I understand that this is a known limitation, I would like to know if there are any plans to address this in future versions of Veeam Backup & Replication,
or if there are any existing workarounds or best practices to retain or reapply these attributes during or after the restore process.

These custom attributes are heavily used in our environment for automation, reporting, and VM lifecycle management, so their loss during restoration creates additional manual work and potential for error.

Appreciate any insights the team can offer.

+1 - we just discovered that they are not backed up which is a big issue for over 4000 vms in our environment
