Hello,
Due to reverse incremental leaving us and me still wanting to do full daily tape backups I tried out GFS media pools, but I dont really get the hang of them.
I setup the pool with dailys, weeklys, monthly and yearly backups, except for the daily of course they all run on the last saturday of a month. Every run copies a full backup to tape except the daily, but I want the daily to be a full backup too. Or do I need to create a simple media pool, set it to only process full backups and than it will do the virtual full backup to tape?
I saw this response in the deprecated features thread and checked the mentioned articles, but I dont get it. I dont know if Im missing something.
What do I need to do to get my daily fulls on tape?

Re: GFS Pool and Daily Fulls
Hi Ahtse,
To have a full backup on tape each day, right now the strategy will be:
Source jobs: Forever Forward Incremental
Simple Media Pool
Virtual Full scheduled every day
This will result in a full backup daily on tape without extra disk space on the repository(-ies) required.
The use-case for Reverse Incremental and tape is a known painpoint for the removal of Reverse Incremental, but there are options available and will discuss further options for replacing this use case moving forward.
So for now, I would use the above proposed workaround for daily fulls on tape in conjunction with[/url] GFS media pool for archival tape backups if that is necessary for your tape out needs.
