We require the ability to run Veeam Agent for Linux backups in "Managed by Agent" mode with local (agent) scheduling and backup execution fallback in the event the VBR management server is offline. Using 100% locally managed backup jobs (e.g., via cron) on the Linux agent machine is not workable as we lose the Backup Policy configuration, local agent execution results/reporting, etc. in the Veeam Backup & Replication console.
This capability existed in previous VBR versions (via Workstation mode), but is no longer available in v12.

Re: Local Execution/Scheduling Fallback
Hello Joe,
Can you elaborate it more?as we lose the Backup Policy configuration
Do you mean running jobs in Managed by Server mode for machines with pre-installed agents? This capability existed in previous VBR versions (via Workstation mode)

Re: Local Execution/Scheduling Fallback
I mean "Managed by Agent" (select "Workstation option) not "Managed by Server". "Managed by Agent" creates a Backup Policy not a Backup Job. The VBR management server pushes that policy to the Linux Agent machine that is already part of a "Protection Group" thus has Linux VBR agents installed.
In VBR versions prior to V12, the "Managed by Agent"/Workstation option would push a [JobSchedule] section to the /etc/veeam/veeam.ini on the Linux agent machine that allows the agent machine to run Backup Jobs, based on an issued Backup Policy and schedule, independently of whether the VBR management server is up and running.
In other words, I'd like VBR management server capability to create a Backup Policy, Schedule Backup Jobs, Receive Backup/Policy Reports, etc. from the Linux agent machine without guaranteeing that the VBR management server is online 100% of the time once the Backup Policy/Backup Job Scheduling is issued to the Linux agent machine.
VBR Documentation --> "Managed by Agent" used in remote sites that are disconnected/offline periodically.

Re: Local Execution/Scheduling Fallback
Hello,
The backup policy is designed for computers that might have restricted connectivity to the backup server, including devices like workstations and laptops: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
You can only create backups for machines in the Pre-Installed Protection Group with Managed by Agent mode (Workstation and Server)

I am still having difficulty understanding what exactly you cannot achieve with the latest version.
