Hello Dears ,
I have a veeam setup already in place I have my local repo which hosts all my backups.
I recently deployed Veeam for GCP and currently I can backup my workloads there, however I am unable to restore my local backups directly to GCP.
So I attempted to restore the backup from my repo on the cloud which is a linux hardened repository and got below error:
5/20/2025 6:40:37 PM Error Restore job failed Error: Failed to restore to GCE: [import-image]: 2025-05-20T15:39:24Z step "import-virtual-disk" run error: operation failed &{ClientOperationId: CreationTimestamp: Description: EndTime:2025-05-20T08:39:21.839-07:00 Error:0xc0002e00f0 HttpErrorMessage:BAD REQUEST HttpErrorStatusCode:400 Id:354559006569733326 InsertTime:2025-05-20T08:39:13.838-07:00 InstancesBulkInsertOperationMetadata:<nil> Kind:compute#operation Name:operation-1747755552756-635930ce053b4-fb2a0040-44a95305 OperationGroupId: OperationType:insert Progress:100 Region: SelfLink:https://www.googleapis.com/compute/v1/p ... 0-44a95305 SetCommonInstanceMetadataOperationMetadata:<nil> StartTime:2025-05-20T08:39:13.838-07:00 Status:DONE StatusMessage: TargetId:8282861488713047246 TargetLink:https://www.googleapis.com/compute/v1/p ... late-b34rq User:831240422820-compute@developer.gserviceaccount.com Warnings:[] Zone:https://www.googleapis.com/compute/v1/p ... central2-a ServerResponse:{HTTPStatusCode:200 Header:map[Content-Type:[application/json; charset=UTF-8] Date:[Tue, 20 May 2025 15:39:21 GMT] Server:[ESF] Vary:[Origin X-Origin Referer] X-Content-Type-Options:[nosniff] X-Frame-Options:[SAMEORIGIN] X-Xss-Protection:[0]]} ForceSendFields:[] NullFields:[]}: Code: SERVICE_ACCOUNT_ACCESS_DENIED; Message: The user does not have access to service account 'veeambackup111906@prj-common-svc-f8.iam.gserviceaccount.com'. Is this lack of permissions on GCP side?
any help will be appreciated

Re: Restoring VMs to GCP via VBR server.
Hello, it does look like a permissions issue - as per the last line of the message, 'Ask a project owner to grant you the iam.serviceAccountUser role on the service account'.
Support team should be able to assist you with this, it's a better route than the forum for such issues. Thanks!
