Can the VHRISO be connected to from multiple VBR servers?
I understand from the Veeam AI it says it is possible but not recommended, here is the scenario though....
Our VHRISO is in a separate locked room in the building. (fire, etc)
The VHRISO works well and normal backup recovery tests with all infrastructure is working fine.
I'm now challenged with testing that the VHRISO repository will work in a disaster scenario where the existing VBR infrastructure is totally lost and recovery is done with a new VBR server. We have a portable VBR server on standby for recovery in this situation. Before the VHRISO we had our backups going to an isolated QNAP and simulating this was easy, just browse to the backup files from the portable VBR on the QNAP and then import the backups. They'd show as encrypted, we'd provide the key from the DR documentation and test restores worked perfectly.
Is it safe to add the VHRISO repository to the portable VBR server? As in enable the ssh login and then add it from the new VBR server. I understand the portable VBR won't have the awareness of all the backups etc but is that solved with a rescan? The second VBR server I am adding will never backup to it, only restore from it so hoping there will not be any of the operational challenges the Veeam AI responded with in doing this.
Basically, I need to find a way to test the VHRISO backups from a different system without causing issues with the day to day backup production work.

Re: [VHRISO] sharing between multiple backup servers
Hello,
the Hardened Repository deployed from the ISO behaves exactly the same as any other Hardened Repository today. That means it's unsupported, but it normally works (see FAQ).
Please be aware that the V13 ISO won't allow sharing one machine between multiple backup servers conceptually (that might change on the longer run, but no timeline is available)
Best regards
Hannes

Re: [VHRISO] sharing between multiple backup servers
Thanks for the reply HannesK. It works, we've found that if there is an existing backup running on the main VBR server to the VHR attempting to add the VHR to another VBR fails. Once it was not running and we lined up the one-time ssh logins on both VBR at same time then scanned them one at a time the second VBR can now pull backups from the VHR to test.
