We currently have SAP HANA, SAP on Oracle workloads on Linux and now with a new customer
we are also having SAP on SQL on Windows workloads.
And currently from Veeam there is "only" a Microsoft SQL Server Plugin available.
Is there a SAP on SQL Plugin planned or in the works?
Currently we would have to use the Microsoft SQL Server Plugin for this.
Are there any meaningful "downsides" using this "general" SQL Server Plugin
instead of having a "real" SAP on SQL Plugin available?
If so, what would that be?
I created a case regarding this:
Case #07715279 — Veeam Plugin for SAP on SQL

Re: Feature Request - SAP on SQL Plugin
Hello,
The only downside is that we have not tested this scenario, so we cannot guarantee the stable functioning of the SAP system after a restore. There may be special control files that must be processed in a specific way, etc. It's difficult to say without further research. On the other hand, if the purpose is only to back up and recover the SQL database, and any additional steps required to make SAP work are handled outside of the plug-in tasks, then the plug-in will be a perfect choice.
The request to support SAP on SQL on Windows has been noted.
Thanks!
