I recently separated my VBR, from simple deployment (physical server acting as VBR + repository) to advanced deployment (new VM as VBR and physical server solely for repository only).
I notice that Windows Agent Log Backup does not automatically resume after I mapped the previous backup chain and enabled the Windows Agent backup job.
I have another VMware backup job with, this VM job automatically resume the SQL Log Backup after I mapped the previous backup chain and enabled the backup job.
Job started at 6/10/2025 11:56:10 AM
Building VMs list 00:04
Preparing log shipping servers 02:56
Required backup infrastructure resources have been assigned 00:00
The Windows Agent Log Backup stuck with this message, the only to force it to start Log Backup Job is to start the Windows Agent backup job, which is not ideal outside the agreed daily backup window.
Job started at 6/10/2025 12:02:22 PM
Waiting for SQL Server backup to appear 09:35
Is this expected for Windows Agent Log Backup? I have rescan repository, it's still Waiting for SQL Server backup to appear.

Re: SQL Server Transaction Log Backup - Windows Agent Log Backup
Hello,
We have just tested this scenario in our lab, and I can confirm that this behavior is by design. In theory, it would be possible to improve the logic and make it work the same way as it does with VMware jobs, but this would require time, and I cannot provide an ETA at the moment. In any case, your feature request has been noted.
Thanks!
