Is there a way to choose a SingleFileBasket as a default storage format for NAS Share Backup

Post by rm76 »

Is there a way to choose a SingleFileBasket as a default storage format for NAS Share Backup?

Or, can I choose it for a certain Backup Job, which has no restore point yet (just created)?

I've tried it with newly created Backup Job, and Convert-VBRNASBackupStorageFormat returned success state.
But when I've stated job for first time, I noticed that job data is stored in <64MB vblob files, in "classic" format.

p.s. I'm running VeeamBR v11, but it's intresting, wheter it's possible for v11, or v12, any way.

Hi rm76,

The SingleFileBasket type is default only for deduplication appliances as far as I'm aware (e.g., DataDomain, Storeonce). So the cmdlet will be necessary for now.

Can you tell more about the reason you want to set this by default? What kind of repository are you using for the backup? Have you seen better performance with the SingleFileBasket type or this is more about testing?

I'm using NEC Hydrastor, it's also a deduplication appliance, but it has no native integration with Veeam (there'e NEC's guide for setting up Hydrator repos on Veeam, but no kind of plugin).
