Using S3 compatible respository for EntraID log backup

Post by sumeet »

Hi,

According to the doco in this link -- https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120

S3 compatible object storage repository should be supported for the primary and secondary log backup repositories.

But when I try to setup Entra ID log backup jobs primary repository as S3 compatible object storage repository, I get the error - multi-bucket repository is not supported as a primary backup repository
I'm unable to find any details why this is so?

I have immutability enabled on the object storage repository - can this be the reason?

Any help will be great.

Thanks!

Hi Sumeet,

As the error message indicates, I assume the Multi Bucket option is enabled for this repository.
Unfortunately, you can't disable the "Multi Bucket Option" on existing repositories. Also, starting with v12.3.1, this option is enabled automatically when adding new S3-compatible repositories.

Therefore, please create a new repository for the Entra ID Log Backup and ensure this option is disabled during configuration.
I will also ask our help center team to add a note about this unsupported option for Entra ID log backups.

Hi Fabian,

Thanks. I created a new repository and this resolved the issue.
I couldn't correlate the multi-bucket error with automatic bucket creation.

Yes a note in the documentation will help.
Appreciate your help.

Regards,
-Sumeet.
