Hi,
We have VM backup direct to Veeam Vault that using direct connection mode, data transfer traffic will be from VMWare Proxies > Vault.
Recently, we needed to create couple new backup jobs that Managed by Veeam Agent (to backup specific folders, and some is specific volume from these VMs), but issue now is for backup jobs managed by Veeam Agent, you cannot back up data to the Veeam Vault storage added in the direct connection mode.
How can we successfully backup these managed by Veeam Agent jobs to Vault?
1. if we change the existing Veeam vault setting from direct connect to through a gateway servers, and add the VMWare proxies as the gateway servers (as it has the firewall ports setup now), will this impact the existing VM backup job? Also, the Veeam agent is not allowed to connect to internet.
2. Consider without changing the direct connection mode setting in the existing Vault repository. It's possible to create another folder in the VDC Vault, then add this folder as second Vault repository with setting "through a gateway server" connection mode from the VBR, then point the managed by Veeam Agent jobs to this new Vault repository? Is this supported scenario? Any guide we can refer to?
Please advice the recommended solution.

Re: Managed by Veeam Agent job with Veeam Vault direct connection mode
Hello Mogansundram
I apologize for the late answer.
1.) Yes, VM backups will also be affected. Whichever Gateway you select, that proxy server will be used to send backup data to the VDC Vault.
2.) Yes, it's possible. There’s no special guide, just create a new repository and point it to another "folder". Or create a new Vault and use it as your Agent repository.
Please note, you can't move "Managed by Veeam Agent" backups from one Object Storage to another Object Storage repository. You will need to start new backup chains in the new repository.

Best,Before you perform the move operation, consider the following limitations:
[For Veeam Agent backup policies] You cannot move backups to/from/between object storage repositories.
