Plugin backup to object storage repository

Post by Peejay62 »

Hi,

it has come to my attention that an object storage repository cannot be used as a (primary)backuptarget with the oracle rman plugin. (same for the sql plugin?). We are running V12. I read somewhere (a short line) that it will be supported in V13. Is this correct? this will be valid for either the rman and sql plugin? We are planning a major switchover to Object storage repositories, that's why I am asking. For our planning it would be good to know where this stands right now, thanks

Peter,

Based on the software appliance beta release notes it points to this being supported in v13:
Enterprise Application
Direct backup to object storage is now available for Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle RMAN, and SAP HANA plug-ins.
Keep in mind this from the beta so it could change between now and release. Hope that helps with your planning.

Hi Jason,

thanks for the reply. So not 100 pct sure, but as this is already mentioned in the release notes changes are big that it will be supported. I will keep that in mind and indeed, this will help in planning.
