Restoring Veeam Server

Post by jcofin13 »

I am trying to figure out a restore of veeam server itself.

It is a 12.2 server and i have a config backup. A new vm was deployed and i have the config backup from the previous server.

The source system had a sql db and the config file says it supports sql and postgress....... and the newly loaded system appears to only have postgress from what i can see.

When i go to try and restore the config file, i select postgress and choose windows authentication i get an error : "SSPI authentication for user servername/administrator"
If i choose native authentication im not sure what to put for a username and password and whatever i do put in here it comes back and says "unable to authenticate because native authentication has been disabled on the the database server".

If i choose sql, the server doesnt have SQL on it so i cant connect or restore to it? Will i need to load up a seperate SQL server in this case or can it be loaded from the install media? I assume my config file contains SQL data and there is no SQL server.....and you cant restore sql data to postgres. I must be missing something obvious here.

Hi Jcofin13

Under which service account does the backup services run? Local Administrator or Local System?

You can try the suggestions in this KB: https://www.veeam.com/kb4542

If it doesn‘t work, I recommend to contact customer support. Please provide me with the case number.

Thank you,

The default install of veeam appears to all be local system for all veeam services.
I only see one postgress service "postgresql-x64-15 - PostgreSQL Server 15" and its service is set to run as "network service"
