Veeam 365 8.1 Failed to process site unknown user

Post by Beheer »

Hello,

I am curious about any hint in the right direction...
Last Friday I upgraded Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 from 7.1.0.2031 to 8.1.1.159
Since then the Veeam Sharepoint backup seems to have discovered a personal site os a user that seem to have left the company for years.

Code: Select all

Failed to process site: https://company-my.sharepoint.com/personal/samaccountname_company_onmicrosoft_com. Failed to resolve personal site owner. The user may not have a valid Microsoft 365 license with a SharePoint plan enabled.. Object reference not set to an instance of an object on server. The object is associated with property Author.
I am unable to find that user in Azure or onprem Active Directory. I would have to contact human resources to find out when she left the company years ago.
In an old check file from 2017 of mine I found the samaccountname, it once existed.

The only hint I have is that when I start the Veeam 365 console, since Friday I get the message:

Code: Select all

Backing up Teams channel messages now requires paid APIs. To continue protecting Teams message data, activate access to the Microsoft Graph Teams Export APIs. For more details, see KB4322.
I solved several other backup job rights issues I hope, haven't looked into this one. I don't know if the Sharepoint backup job warning is related to "protecting Teams message data".

The bottom line is that I want to ged rid of this warning since I hyave to open the job details every day to find out that the warning is about t6his non-existing user.

Kind regards,
Han

Hi Han,

The "Teams paid API" message is not related to the "resolve personal site owner" message.

The easiest solution in Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 would be to exclude the personal site from the backup, especially since the user is no longer with the company.
If you no longer need the Personal Site, you can delete it using SharePoint Online cmdlets: Remove-SPOSite

Thanks Fabian,
I looked into the Exclude option yesterday, but couldn't find the site, now I did (?).
But we choose to delete the personal site, now also Veeam vannot find it anymore in the exclude list, should be fine now.

Regards,
Han
