grace period

Post by pirx »

Hi,

can someone explain to me the grace period? We have 1800 subscriptions which are more than enough for VBR. But for VeeamOne we can not exclude things that we thought we could. Now we are above 1800. I understand that we can use +10% for during the grace period. From the documentation is sound like this is just until our current contract ends / duration of the license key. Is this right?

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/one/d ... ml?ver=120
An increase in the number of managed objects up to the specified percentage is allowed only for a limited period of time. The duration of this grace period is equal to the duration of the license key.

Hello,
Apologies for the delay. That is right, it will be until the contract ends/duration of the entire key.

Would you mind sharing a bit more what are you trying to exclude. We tend to license and monitor the same as VBR is protecting for consistency.

Thank you!

Also (this is slightly off-topic since it isn't about the grace period), when you get ABOVE the 10% allowed, then Veeam ONE will just stop monitoring other components in the Virtual Infrastructure. Our experience is that it prioritizes the VBR-based licenses used first, so that as long as you don't go above your license limit by 110% just with VBR calculated instances, you'll still get good monitoring with Veeam ONE for your VBR. It will just ignore any additional Virtual bits when you get above the 110% (this ignoring happens immediately, not at contract renewal).

Just our experiences, from Veeam ONE v 10, so this might have changed in recent versions, but we added Virtual Infrastructure exclude rules to get back down below the license max+10% so we'd not see whether Veeam ONE was continuing to ignore additional ones like it did in V1-10.

Thanks for the feedback,
Yes, doing some work with Business view and only monitoring what has backup for example, is always a great practice.

Thanks for sharing. I have replied on the other thread to @pirx
