Hello everyone,
At VeeamON 2025, there was a session titled "Veeam Detectives Hidden Feature Hunt", in which the registry key "EmailNotificationRunningJobsMin" was introduced.
According to the session, this registry key enables email notifications if a backup job continues to run for a certain period.
However, I’m not sure how to properly configure it.
I created the registry key "EmailNotificationRunningJobsMin" as a DWORD under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication" and set its value to "5" on Veeam B&R server.
Veeam B&R Global notification setting: Enabled
Veeam B&R Job notification setting: Enabled
After this, I expected an email notification to be sent when a backup job has been running continuously for 5 minutes, but no notification was sent.
I thought a system restart might be required after setting the registry key, but even after restarting, the situation has not changed.
Am I misunderstanding what this registry key means?
If anyone is familiar with this registry key, could you please clarify what it actually configures and where exactly it should be created?
Kind Regards,
Yusuke Fujita

Re: About the registry key “EmailNotificationRunningJobsMin”
Hello Yusuke,
Thank you for attending @Lesslhumer's and my session at VeeamON this year.
When configuring this registry key (DWORD), you will receive a daily report with jobs running longer than the specified time (in minutes). The daily report will be sent according to the schedule defined in the Global Email Notification Settings.
Are you seeing different behavior?
Best,
Fabian

Re: About the registry key “EmailNotificationRunningJobsMin”
Hi Fabian,
I had misunderstood the configuration of this registry key...
(I had mistakenly thought that the email would be sent immediately when a job is running for the duration specified by the registry key...)
When I checked this morning’s daily report, I found an email with the subject “[Warning] Jobs exceeding expected duration”!
It seems the registry key is functioning properly.
Thank you for your support!
Kind Regards,
Yusuke
