One "big" or two "medium" backup proxies ?

Post by fcambot »

In a vsphere 5 server, i have 8 cores and 12GB RAM available for making a backup proxy.
I made a signle backup server with windows server 20008R2, using all resources. Great result :).
Will i gain something by "splitting" resources in two backup proxies ?

Splitting "big" proxy server into two smaller ones will give you an ability to backup VMs in case of a single proxy server failure, though this shouldn't be an issue if you keep the default backup proxy (deployed on Veeam backup console) in place.

Only redundancy on backup proxy level.
