SangFor HCI - Support

Post by carloscesario »

Hi,

I would like to know if Veeam has support for Veeam agentless based.
Im testing the solution, and I was informed by Sangfor contact that it is officially supported by Veeam using the agentless method.
According to
https://www.brighttalk.com/webcast/18571/642775
https://www.sangfor.com/news-and-press- ... resilience

But I did not find official documentation about it.

Best regards
Carlos

Hi, no Veeam does not currently support agentless backup of Sangfor VMs. Thanks

Sangfor in this case creates a snapshot (agentless) of the VM storage and uses our file backup job to backup this snapshot. Veeam in this case supports the backup and restore of the files that Sangfor provides to us. Veeam does not know anything about the content or consistency of the files that we backup and we can restore the data only how it was provided to us.

"We" is not exactly the right word in this case. Sangfor uses VBR capabilities unrelated to VM backup in a clever way to provide a custom data protection solution for VMs. This is something they deliver and support (as a service provider), Veeam has nothing to deal with this solution otherwise.
