Veeam FLR restore only deleted file/folders

Hi,

we are seeking the feature to restore files which are no longer existing on the live system.
When using Autodesks Vault and a file is lost, the option to keep or overwrite doesn't meet the requirements, as we only want to restore the deleted file (which you can also configure to see in the view tab, when you select compare with production and show only changes).

That would be a nice feature to be added for this use case, because according to the veeam support agent I talked, it does offer to have the view but you're not able to just get the deleted files back.

Hi ramon_dstr, welcome to the forums.

You can sort by the "Item State" column after enabling Compare to Production and then select the deleted items (shift and/or ctrl+click) and then use the "Restore Changes" button from the FLR wizard.

That will accomplish what you're looking for.

Please share the case number where you asked about this as I'd like to review what the Support Engineer discussed, as this is a pretty common scenario covered by Compare to Production.

yes but if I do not want to manually do this and have 1000's of folder that won't really work out.

And your point is understood, agreed a "restore deleted items" button would be quite beneficial.

As an alternative solution right now, this can be managed with Powershell as there are cmdlets for Compare-VBRWindowsGuestItemAttributes and Compare-VBRUnstructuredBackupFlrItemAttributes.

The cmdlets will return the same results as from the FLR wizard, and you can filter on "Deleted" to get an array of deleted items, and then proceed to restore the deleted items to production.

it's weird the support agent didn't mention this possibility, I have not used the Veeam PS before, so first I would need to test this our somewhere else.

Happy to advise, ramon_dstr; it's why I asked to see the case, as would have been great to mention the option for Powershell. Veeam Support cannot assist with script creation/design (sec 5.8), but would have been alright to mention it.
