Export backup of SQL VM + it's transaction logs

Post by Nas »

Hi,

I have a SQL VM being backup in SiteA with app aware and need to make a specific backup date portable so I can physically copy it to SiteB and restore the SQL VM as application consistent.

I have looked into https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120 and tried exporting the SQL VM backup, however only the image level backup is being exported as portable excluding the SQL Server transaction logs that I want.

How do I correctly transport the existing SQL Server transaction logs between two physical sites?

I know Backup Copy Job can achieve this, but using BCJ will copy the whole backup chain which is too much data whereby I need only specific date, hence the requirement for export backup.

Hi Nashville,

It is not possible at the moment, but I’ve noted your feature request. In version 13, our plug-in for Microsoft SQL Server will include an option to replay transaction log backups on an existing database instead of performing a full database recovery. It’s not exactly the same, but it’s somewhat close to what you’re asking for.

Thanks!
