[VHRISO] password problems

Post by sebastian.mayer »

ello,

Thank you for the ISO. I have installed a VM. The installation went smoothly without any errors. I log in with the user credentials vhradmin and am prompted to change the password. Unfortunately, I then encounter the following error: "Authentication token manipulation error"

What can I do here?

Thanks in advance

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

That means the password was either mistyped or not complex enough or the account is already locked because of too many tries. To unlock the account you can follow https://www.veeam.com/kb4663 or re-install.

Best regards
Hannes

Hello,
Thank you for the feedback. I was able to resolve the previous error.

Currently, however, I am encountering an error when attempting to add the backup repository. I have enabled SSH and noted down the provided credentials. I then enter these credentials into Veeam and receive the following error: "A supplied password or user name is incorrect"
I have disabled and re-enabled SSH to obtain a new password, but I continue to receive an incorrect credentials error when attempting to log in with the user "veeamsvc" (even through Putty).

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.
best regards,
Sebastian

Hello,
99% for sure the password was typed in incorrectly and if that happened 3x, then the account is locked (the other 1% is reserved for Windows issues :-)). I would suggest to log in on the console with veeamsvc to see what the error is. Putty closes too fast (at least for me).

Best regards

Hello,

Thank you for the response. I have reinstalled the system and generated a new password for the user. The login still does not work at the console. It shows "Login incorrect". I even entered the password as the username to check my input, and it is correct.

Are there any other options?

Best regards,
Sebastian

Hello,
the account is either locked or the password is wrong. Please check with Veeam support if there is maybe something else. But I cannot imagine any other reason than the two. I locked out myself multiple times...

Best regards,
Hannes

When changing the password, you have to provide first the „current password“. Which is by default „ vhradmin“.

I assume you entered the new password instead of current one?
