How to manage ASP.NET Core and .Net Core Runtime updates

Post by DVelez »

My RMM is flagging critical vulnerabilities in ASP.NET Core and .NET Core Runtime versions 3, 6, and 8. I currently have Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3 installed. Can I safely remove versions 3 and 6 and just update version 8, or do I still need the older versions for compatibility?

Hi Davide,

I have moved your question to the existing topic.
Since version 12.3, Veeam Backup & Replication and all integration plugins use .NET 8.
Before removing any old .NET versions, please ensure that no other non-Veeam applications require them to function properly.

Best regards,

Thanks Mildur.
One more question, is safe to update .Net 8 to the latest version?

Yes, you can upgrade to the latest version of .NET v8.
Just make sure that both the Microsoft .NET Desktop Runtime and the Microsoft ASP.NET Core Runtime are on the exact same minor version of version 8.
