v13 VBR Linux server - Tape server role
v13 VBR linux deployment question - don't see any mention of tape support. Is there? Or does that still require a Windows physical tape server?

Re: v13 VBR Linux server - Tape server role
Hi Scott,
The "Tape server on Linux" has been supported since version 12.
With V13, however, you will not be able to deploy the tape server role on the Linux backup server (Veeam Software appliance) itself; you’ll need an additional machine to act as the tape server.
Best regards,
Fabian

The question was more around whether its an option for integrating into the VBR v13 Linux instance directly, or whether its has to be a separate tape server. Which for smaller deployments is one less server. But if its not an option then stick to Windows I guess.

Re: v13 VBR Linux server - Tape server role
The Linux backup server (our VSA) cannot hold the Tape role due to our least privilege architecture.
Tape functionality requires root permissions, which are not available on the Software Appliance.
For the Tape server role, you will still need to deploy your own Windows or Linux machine.
Best regards,
Fabian
