What is the correct way to handle this - Failed backup within Tape job.

Hi,

I am unsure the best way to handle this scenario, can anyway assist?

Scenario:

1. Disk backup of 4 VM's (full) run on Sunday night and 1 of the VM's failed to backup. Following the completion of the job, the backup files are then written to tape.
2. Monday morning I complete a retry of the original backup job on the failed server and it completes successfully.
3. I then need to re-run the tape job containing all 4 successfully completed backup files.

Issue:

When I run the tape job again, it only attempts to write the latest (Monday) backup of the single server to tape.

Currently I have created a new job which is now backing up all instances (last 3 months) to a tape so I have something immutable to be archived off site.

Have I done something wrong? How can I complete a successful retry and write only the very latest backup of each VM to a tape?

Hi IanW_82,

Is the tape job targeting a GFS media pool or simple media pool?

By default, Backup to Tape jobs targeting a simple media pool should backup all backups on repository not yet on tape.

I would recommend open a Support Case and let Veeam Support have a look at the job logs to see what happened on the Monday run of the tape job. (Use the 1st radio button to export by job and select the tape job in question)

Please share your case number once created.
