vdc backup another tenant user
Hello !
I am considering purchasing VDC M365.
Our company uses separate tenants: the headquarters' EntraID tenant and the overseas branch's EntraID tenant.
From what I understand, when purchasing VDC M365, only the EntraID tenant used for the purchase will be backed up.
However, the other tenant at the overseas branch also needs to be backed up.
This is the reason for my concern.
Will the other tenant also be backed up with VDC M365?

Hi,
You can have a single VDC Organisation, with enough licenses to cover both of your tenants, and then add these both into your VDC Organisation. Licenses will be dynamically utilised between them both based on your requirements for protecting users/data, and you can govern RBAC controls as to which users/administrators can access which tenant(s).

Hello micoolpaul
I cannot find a way to add a single VDC organization or tenant.
Is it possible to add a tenant in the VDC M365 console?
(I am testing by borrowing it because another branch office is using VDC M365.)

Hi,
Is this the interface screen you see? https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vdc/u ... rview.html
Or this one: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vdcm3 ... cm365.html
The first experience has the ability to add multiple tenants, whilst the second is our legacy experience which has a 1 tenant per organisation structure. We are actively working to move any customers on the legacy experience over to the modern one.

Hello micoolpaul
First one!
Is there a way to migrate to the second environment? (Will there be additional costs? Will it affect the existing backup?)

Hi,
The first one is our new experience, the second one was the legacy.
So follow these steps to add an additional tenant:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vdc/u ... aunch.html
It won't affect existing backups, it'll only impact additional costs if you require additional licenses to protect your additional tenant.

Hello
I didn't explain it correctly.
This is the second screen, not the first one.
(Microsoft 365: Purchased before July 10, 2025)
Is it possible to migrate to Microsoft 365: Purchased After July 10, 2025 without additional costs and without affecting existing backups?

Hi,
It certainly is possible, we're going through the migration planning process at the moment. If you can private message me the name of your tenant I'll raise it with engineering and lets see about getting you in one of the earlier migration batches.
There won't be any changes to costs, and your existing backups will migrate across.
