Hello,
we are planning to setup Veeam backup for Azure to protect Azure VMs for our customer, the Veeam backup infrastructure will be setup in a separate Azure subscription.
According to Veeam's document, the Azure VM backup will instruct the source Azure subscription to take a VM Snapshot, and then create a SAS link. The workers on the backup subscription will then be able to retrieve the snapshot via the SAS link and then perform the necessary compression and conversion to Veeam's format and store on Veeam's Blob storage.
My question is, since the backup infrastructure, including workers are setup on the backup subscription, will any egress incur from the source subscription when the workers retrieve the VM snapshot via the SAS link?
Note: The setup is similar to the reference architecture, both workload and backup Azure subscriptions are located in a same region.

Re: Azure VM Backup from different subscription
Hi John,
You can specify a specific subscription for the workers as described in our user guide. We do run a worker in the region of the source VM and then read data from there to the backup repository.
