MSSQL Plugin - GFS and multiple retentions

Post by makacmar »

Hello,
the requirement from customer is to have different retention periods
like for DB A, B, C 14 days, for DB D,E,F 1 months
on top of that for DB A,D monthly backup with 1 year retention
so we have 3 jobs in sql studio
but if job for A,B,C will run, it will delete backups for D,E,F and yearly backups as well, because job for A,B,C DBs has “delete older than 14 days”
So issue is that it should skip deleting backups for D,E,F and yearly backups, but is not the case

Would it be possible to implement that over mssql plugin?

Hi Marcel,

If I interpret your request correctly, you want to have GFS retention policy in SQL plug-in? This is one of the most important requests now, but I cannot share any timelines.

Thanks!

Hello Petr,

I would also add that we highly anticipate GFS for the Enterprise Plugins.
Can you share if this something that currently is actively worked on?
And is this something that then will be coming per each plugin or will
then be available for all the enterprise plugins?
(so shared development "string"?)

Best Regards
Udo

Hi Udo,

I would say that this is our top priority, but we're still in the early stages and I have no information regarding timelines. I also cannot say yet whether we’ll be shipping it per plug-in or for all plug-ins at once, as this depends on various factors.

Thanks!
