Feature request: License Usage Report

Hi all,

I'd like to insert a new feature request to create a new kind of report, the License Usage Report.

This kind of report is already present in the VBR console, but it's not possible to schedule/send it via e-mail.

At this time, there doesn’t appear to be a straightforward way to accomplish this task in Veeam ONE.

Have you considered using Veeam Service Provider Console (VSPC)?

With VSPC, you can onboard your internal Veeam environment—or each customer individually—as a managed company. Once connected, you can install and manage licenses across all your VBR servers, and VSPC automatically generates a monthly license usage report.

I've set it up myself and found it incredibly useful. It saves a significant amount of time on both reporting and license management. Plus, it integrates with Veeam Pulse, allowing you to assign licenses per customer, and assist with renewals too.

Even if you use it solely for license management, VSPC is a powerful tool worth exploring!

Yes, but with this Customer is not a possible solution, since we don't manage their licenses and we have a totally different contract for the others that we manage thru VSPC.

Maybe you've already identified this solution, but it's also possible to create a PowerShell script to export the license usage and then send it to you by email.
Or am I wrong ?

No, at least for now, since the Customer I'm talking about just bought Veeam ONE and it would be happy to manage this kind of reports using this product, so it would be nice if it will bring this feature in one of their next release.

I´d like to complement the request.

We must have a report in Veeam One that we can send by email taking information about licenses from 1, 2 or All VBR connected to Veeam One.

As far as I see in the initial release, there is no license report of any type yet.

We shared that after v13 we could start exploring it, and that is what we are currently doing. I cannot share any ETA, but rest-assured we are evaluating it.

I was thinking, as we didn't previously mention it, that this functionality might help if you are using Enterprise Manager.

Well, that is in order to send an email easily, yes. I am positive you can change that to any other legacy SMTP Server, or change that part to Google Mail, etc.

I revisited the script and it worked.

I hope Veeam ONE v13.x will bring soon this new license report, since it was the first report my customer asked me for, upon the upgrade of his Veeam Data Platform license and my answer to that was "no, there is no license report available until now"... so it was not such a great success case

Now that Veeam ONE 13 is out, and you can remove sections, columns, etc. Are we sure Backup Inventory Report doesn't fit?

I just run it, and it tells me the same details as for Example Enterprise Manager:


With the exception of the details, which has been added to backlog. But in order to quickly see, how many workloads each VBR is consuming, this report is just perfect. Also, it can be filtered by VBR, saved as individual reports, for VBR1, VBR2, etc. And comfortable be sent as CSV/PDF to each Customer/tenant/business unit.

I'll test it in my lab, but regarding this specific Customer this way is not suitable for now, because I've tested in my lab Veeam ONE v13 strictly requires (altough is not specified in the relative documentation) at least one virtual infrastructure is added to the inventory, but since in this case there is a licensing reason that prevents it, I can't do that, so I can't use the v13 here for the moment.

You can see what I mean in the following screenshot (all functions of the Veeam ONE v13 are restricted until I add a new virtual infra):

This is unexpected, we of course require some data source, but that can be anything, meaning Veeam Backup & Replication.

The message disappears after the data collection finishes (so there is data to show), but I can confirm you do not need any Virtual Infrastructure, just Backup & Replication servers, or Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365.

Please make sure that data collection has finished after adding your VBR, and click refresh. If this keep occurring, I would encourage to create a support ticket Matteo, please share the support case with us.
