Proxmox Support with VeeamONE

Post by joe.young »

What is the time frame for VeeamONE including Proxmox functionality like it does with Vmware?

Hello Joe,
What functionalities are you missing? VeeamONE does support already a vast large of reports, and widgets where Proxmox is visible, including:
Reports
  • Protected VMs (KVM Environments)
  • Workload Protection History
  • Backups on Repository
  • Capacity Planning for Backup Repositories
  • Immutable Workloads
  • Scale-out Backup Repository Configuration
  • Job History
  • Backup Inventory
Dashboard - Threat Center
  • Scorecard - Platform Security Compliance
  • Scorecard - Data Recovery Health
  • Scorecard - Data Protection Status
  • Scorecard - Backup Immutability Status
  • Malware Detections
  • RPO Anomalies
  • SLA Compliance Overview
Dashboard - Widgets
  • Backup Infrastructure Inventory Widget
  • Backup Window widget
  • Job Status widget
  • Top Jobs by Duration widget
  • Top Repositories by Used Space widget
  • Protected Workloads (coming soon)
Alarms
  • Backup Job State
  • Backup Copy Job State
  • Job Disabled Alarm
Day-2 Operations
  • Proxmox jobs appear in Veeam ONE Client - Data Protection
  • Proxmox protected workloads appear in Veeam ONE Client - Repositories - Protected Data
For virtual infrastructure monitoring of Proxmox, they have already native exporter of the monitoring to InfluxDB and there are ready to consume open source things like this: If you can please specify what else you are missing that will be ideal.

Thank you!

Hi. How can you add proxmox server to VeeamOne.
From "add server" list there is no option for adding Proxmox server?

Hello Bostjan,
There is not need to add it to Veeam ONE, we do collect all the required data for the sections above using Veeam Backup & Replication.

Give it a try and let us know.

To add some value, if you're not providing a way to add infrastructure from PVE to Veeamone how in the world would you know if veeam isn't backing up a VM? We currently tag vm's in vcenter with "DONT BACKUP" tag for example, and exclude items for a report to see if backups exist for any vm that doesn't have that tag to ensure all vm's are being backed up by veeam. How could you get a report like that without talking to PVE? our main and sole purpose of using veeam one is having the ability to report off fo the virtual infrastructure of vcenter and veeam together, and if said features are not available, we would have not value to utilize veeam one, and would likely retire that deployment.

Hello Jason,
Well, we are moving off of the Virtual Infrastructure Monitoring slowly. For example, for VMware today, and Nutanix AHV we get the VMs tree and other parameters from the Veeam Backup Server that is connected.
As far as I know, for Proxmox we do not have the list of VMs from the backup server, so all the functionality included and mentioned above is for VMs that have at least one restore point.

We are progressing and adding more functionality and improvements moving forward, and we understand that is important for you to report on those unprotected VMs, we will surely follow AHV approach on upcoming releases where we get the VM tree from backup server.

Also tags and other parameters should be considered.

All the feedback is welcome, I would recommend to give Veeam ONE v13 a go, see the reports and alarms that we have for Proxmox data protection, and either here, or directly at Jorge.delacruz@veeam.com would be very constructive to elevate the integration together.

Thank you
