Server Managed of Win10

Post by bigal.nz »

Hi!

I want to backup a Windows 10 Workstation partition.
I am using community Veeam B&R and want the backup to be managed by the Veeam Server. I deployed the agent from the server.

This becomes a problem because when I select Type : Workstation ( the other options are Server or Cluster) the Mode options then greys out Veeam Managed and I have to pick Agent managed.

Is there a way around this?

According to the user guide, https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... _mode.html:
You cannot select the Workstation option if you want to create a backup job managed by backup server.

Workstations are typically not powered on 24/7, which is why it most of the time makes better sense to let the workstation manage the jobs.

This workstation is actually an Azure Virtual Desktop, and turns on/off at very set times. The backups work OK, but the reason I want it all server managed is because if the workstation is off - then it wont send failed backup notifications. It would be easier to manage all the notifications from the server.
