1 Prism Central, +10 VBR's

Post by Pokerhead »

Hi All,

A new customer is already running VEEAM on +10 sites.
All of them have a separate VBR.

Currently only 2 of those sites have AHV, all others are ESXi.

My main question:
Can we link 1 Prism Central (one VEEAM AHV Backup appliance), to multiple VBR's?
We need to work with the setup as is, and give advice further down the road.

If my information is correct:
- Prism Central can only have one VEEAM AHV Backup appliance.
- AHV Backup appliance will spin up predefined workers per cluster.
- Categories can only be used via Prism Central.

@Pokerhead yes registering a single Prism Central from multiple VBR instances is supported. I'm not certain where the idea that this is not possible has come from. Correct VBR can specify which cluster to deploy the appliance and workers to and will not have visibility to other appliance/worker instances deployed by other VBR's. Yes categories are only available via Prism Central.
Also note that with VBR v13 and up there will no longer be a need to deploy the AHV appliance as it's functionality has been merged into core VBR...

Thanks for answering ronnmartin61.
Correct, I had the same findings when I was reading the v13 documentation.
Is it also correct that a AHV Backup appliance can only be linked to one VBR. Which would make sense.

You're very welcome. Yes a backup appliance can only be affiliated with one VBR.
