Post by kbr »

When i try to add a rental license to a new V13 appliance i get the error: Veeam Sofware Appliance does not support legacy format rental licenes. How can i create a license in Pulse voor V13?

Hello Karl,

That's expected behaviour, please reach out your Veeam sales representative or open a support case regarding the license conversion. Thank you!

Hi Karl

You should see the option to create Veeam Data Platform rental licenses in VCSP Pulse and in the Veeam Service Provider Console. Just create a new VDP rental license for your tenants or hosted environment.
If you’re using the Service Provider Console, make sure you’ve upgraded to version 9.

Note: Tenants using the Software Appliance can’t connect to VSPC v9 yet for backup and license monitoring. You need to upgrade Cloud Connect to version 13, but you’ll have to wait for the v13.0.1 update later this year before able to do so.

Hi, if i try adding Veeam Data Platform Foundation it will count a VM as 11 points, with Veeam Backup and Replication Standard a VM counts as 5 points. That will more then double the license costs per VM. That's not something this and other customer will appreciate...

Hi Karl,

That should be discussed with your partner manager or sales contact at Veeam in your region, as product management does not have influence over license pricing in our products.

Thank you,

Right, perhaps they already have that issue with VBR-S figured out and there's a path to take in such scenarios. Just keep in mind we're with R&D so we really can't comment on any business or licensing related topic, and especially on Rental licensing with its very special Point system that lives outside the product.

Also, the upcoming Veeam Backup & Replication 13.0.1 on Windows, will still work with legacy format rental licenses (Standard, Enterprise, Enterprise Plus).
