Hi,

First time i have this on my Windows 10, always perect update. Now i get this in install.

In ran into the same issue (also on Windows 10, but this happens on Windows 11 too). I uninstalled the previous version as instructed by the dialog, then installed 6.3.2.1302. Backup job settings and backup history were preserved. While the workaround is simple, this should not be needed.

I think that the issue is probably very wide so i prefer for a better update from the app. I will wait for a fix and a acknowledgement for the issue.

I thought about uninstalling but i was afraid about the settings, since @roger63 you say that everything is preserved (backup task, settings, periods, notifications ? Correct ?) i will have this as a last resort

Folks, this was already asked and answered in the adjacent thread last week.

Standalone (unmanaged) and free agents cannot update themselves automatically to this security patch. That specific functionality in the standalone agent UI where you check for and install updates is unfortunately not prepared to see a new build number with only the 4th octet changed, which is our new way to deliver security patches. Therefore, there will not be a "better update" from the app and the only way to update is to uninstall the existing version and then install the new version.

ok i accept that, maybe it should be a PIN topic or something more stand out for this issue.

Can you provide the direct link to download the latest client.
Again please clarify that if i uninstall from control-panel it will keep all settings in my installation when i reinstall?

You should be able to see both the answer to your question and the clickable direct download link in the details of the update availability notification directly in the standalone agent UI. Please let us know if you don't see this and if so @Dima P. will investigate. We had some issue with this notification last week but presumably it was quickly fixed.

Can you provide the direct link to download the latest client.
The link should appear in the Update tab of Veeam Agent for Windows. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of Veeam Agent for Windows from Latest Updates or from MyAcctount page.
Again please clarify that if i uninstall from control-panel it will keep all settings in my installation when i reinstall?
Open Windows Add/Remove Programs, locate Veeam Agent for Windows, and select Uninstall. After that, run the installer for the latest version you downloaded. Thank you!

I know is not a "vote" session but this "new way to deliver security patches" will be in the "bad guy list" for me for while; no hard feelings anyway.

I feel that the expression "no update" is closer to reality than this claim.

I'd loved a 6.3.3 version, or a better installing tool. I hope for improvement in the future, because currently is far from streamilined with this deliver procedure.
The same occurred with moving away from microsoft technology and was a major version upgrade; not comfortable but understandable.

Anyway, should be closely available (within 90 days from 25H2 version) the 25H2-compatible version, hoping that this one could be installed in the streamined way that was available until 6.3.2.1205

And i have to login to download it. I haven't login in ages, not remember anything. For an update that SHOULD be OnAir and do nothing, i have to login to download it. At least make it available via a direct link without the hustle.

Oh and the best of it you need a business email to download it, you need actually to fill out a whole form with all my info, and a business email. For a personal VEEAM agent FREE version.
This has gone sideways all the way!

And i have VEEAM in my company, huge fan but here on this you have drop the ball!

I do not have the time for this, please provide a direct link for download.

Just wanted to note that FREE agents were never eligible for patches or updates in the first place as per the Support Policy and this restriction was in place for as long as I remember myself.
4.3. Community, Free and NFR licensed products
... Access to hot fixes, patches and updates requires an active maintenance contract for at least one deployment of the corresponding product. Users without an active maintenance contract receive fixes by downloading periodic generally available product releases.
I'm happy to hear that FREE users are nevertheless still able to download them with the only thing asked being registration. As it could have been a complete paywall like with some other companies instead.

Keep in mind I'm with R&D, we don't decide on any of that. But I really am happy to see no paywalls or strict policy enforcements still as it means more people can use and enjoy the products we build. I'd much rather have folks in charge of licensing/monetization require a simple registration than the former!

Also, as a heavy user of free products and services from other companies myself, I don't usually complain when they require me to register, as it's the least I can give back. Saying "I don't have time, just give it to me" like I'm entitled to free stuff does not feel right to me, but may be it's just me.

To end this from my part. The registration requires a business email, meaning no gmail hotmail etc. I have my own domain so that pass. What about a user with a public email ?

Always a VEEAM Supporter even if i argue.

This is because Veeam is a B2B not a B2C company... so business email was the requirement since our inception.
