I would like to have the ability to SCHEDULE an Active Full Backup Copy Job to a Repository with Rotated Media enabled.
The fact that I have to MANUALLY initiate Full backups to my Rotating Media Offsite Repository is ridiculous. GFS is not an option in my scenario. And, as I understand it, it wouldn't be available with Rotating media repositories.
This is necessary in order to create new backup chains and PREVENT Merge Operations that ultimately run Backup Copy Jobs into a brick wall. There is no need to state the benefits of being able to schedule a task that would otherwise have to be performed manually.
If there is a better option, I'm listening...

Re: Feature Request: Ability to Schedule Active Full Backup for Repository with Rotated Media
Hi Michael,
Thank you for the request.
How frequently do you plan to run an Active Full Copy?
Maybe as a workaround; If you have a dedicated disk for each copy session, you can use the "Delete backups belonging to the job" option, which will force an active full copy each time.

Best regards,
Fabian
Thank you for the request.
Could you please clarify what the current bottleneck is? If you are using USB2, upgrading to USB3 may help improve performance. This is necessary in order to create new backup chains and PREVENT Merge Operations that ultimately run Backup Copy Jobs into a brick wall.

Re: Feature Request: Ability to Schedule Active Full Backup for Repository with Rotated Media
I am using USB3 media.
In my situation, I have to perform an active full backup copy every 2 weeks as I rotate between two offsite drives. One is always offsite. One is always attached. I've since resorted to scheduling a powershell script with the Veeam CLI to schedule the full backup copy jobs every 3 weeks. Needless to say, it is a bit complicated choreographing the jobs, but it works.
Another option I had considered was the option you suggested to essentially wipe the previous backups from the drive and start a new chain. That would reduce my offsite retention down to one week unless I go out an purchase additional offsite backup drives to put in rotation.
