Hi all,
I have V13 in my lab. Veeam Server died and I want to restore my configuration to a new VSA. Thought that is easy, as it is the same process as V12, right? -> No restore option for V13 in the Windows Console.
After some digging in the V13 document, I found this: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbr/u ... tml?ver=13
Not that easy process as before, but should be doable.
Trying to generate the answer file:
- Logging into the host management console web ui as veeamadmin, click on "remote access" and no option to Enter shell visible. Okay, maybe the veeamadmin is the wrong user and I need to use the veeamso one?
- Trying to the same as veeamso user, but no. Okay, what next?
- Maybe I need to enable SSH Server instead to get the option visible - but no.
- Trying to SSH into the veeam server and run the command - nope, permission denied. Okay, I will request root access and try again.
- Still a big no. Even logout and login again, trying to run sudo, etc. doesn't help here. Still permission denied.
So, what next?
- Lets look at the console itself. There is the option "Enter shell" visible, yay!
- Copy & Paste? Nope. Just typing the command (why exactly is there a button to copy the command to clipboard?)
- unattended.xml file generated successfully (used the path stated in the helpcenter article).
- Now to the second part - editing the configuration.
- Windows Console again - files section - right click the file and choose "edit" -> Big Error message "Status(StatusCore="PermissionDenied",Detail="Bad gRPC response. HTTP status code 403)". Restarted the console, to check if my session is disconnected or something, but no. Still the same error.
Anyone here did a successful restore on V13 VSA?
I will try it with another path, etc. and hope to get it working.
@Veeam Team: Please make it much less complicated. I know the system is "hardened", but what helps the best hardening, when you cannot easily restore the system from a configuration backup.
Please add a restore option to the installer ISO, which gives a web-based ui to do the restore. It should either allow to connect existing repos and search for configuration backups or offer the option to upload it. My configuration backup is stored on the JEOS LHR.
