13.0.1 saying infrastructure is out of date, but it isn't?

Post by pesos » 1 person likes this post

Hi, have updated a community edition and an Essentials Enterprise edition from 12.3.2 to 13.0.1

Things seem to be going fine, however during the compat check during the upgrade, it mentioned a compatibility issue and linked to a page that listed linux distros that are no longer compatible as of v13. This is all fine and good, except:
1) the installer didn't specify what infrastructure component it considered to be out of date, meaning we have to guess
2) none of the listed distros on the linked web page are in use

in fact the only linux distro in use at all is our hardened repo which is on ubuntu 22.04 LTS, which according to veeam's page should still be compatible.

Is there a way to determine what component it was talking about, and in future builds might it be possible for it to be a bit more explicit about what it thinks is out of date?

Thanks!

Hi,

Is this the message you are referring to?

"It is recommended to remove backup infrastructure servers running on unsupported operating systems from configuration before proceeding with the upgrade. For more information, please review Veeam Support Knowledge Base article KB4784."

Thanks!

I believe so. It only showed up on servers that have a hardened repository in the infra.

Hi Pesos,

are the repos now in a current software status or are they still complaining?

Ok, so, here is how it works:

If you upgrade from v12 to v13 and have Linux hosts registered in the console, we will give you a message telling to check whether you are running any unsupported distros.

The message is unconditional (i.e. we do not know distro versions of all your hosts, hence we have to ask you to check it), so you see it regardless of whether there are any EOL system in your infra.

That is, if all your systems are in the scope of supported OSes, then simply disregard the message.

Thanks!
