Hi all, we've been using Veeam for several months in production and it is working well. We are working with our security team to enable Instant Recovery functionality. Their desired implementation method is to add a nic to our Veeam server that is on the VMWare host FT network that has access to a VMKernel port for mounting the NFS. This is because we do not have a VMKernel port on the VMWare hosts that is on the same subnet as the Veeam server, and our thinking is that simply opening firewall ports would not work well as we would not want all that NFS traffic (and subsequent svmotion) traffic going over the firewalls.
So our primary nic is on vlan A with firewall port access to VMWare hosts to talk with VMWare for all backup requirements. Can we have another nic on vlan B that is on the same subnet as VMWare hosts VMKernel port used for NFS mounting?
Anyone else tried this? We tried and it didn't work right off the bat, didn't know if there was any settings or routing trickery we need to try.
Thanks,
-Chad

Re: Instant Recovery with multi-nic Veeam server
Should work fine, but you may need to manually mount the vPower NFS datastore manually on the host using the specific IP address. This is a pretty common setup. Do you have multiple proxies/repositories?

Here is the procedure you should follow to mount the vPower NFS datastore manually: Possible to specify IP used for mounting NFS datastore
