Using images in this forum

Post by robnicholsonmalt »

Putting this here as there is no other obvious topic to create it in. How do people add images here? I used to use imgur.com but due to the UK online safety bill, imgur.com is now blocked here.

PS. Whilst talking about this forum, why isn't there a generic topic for Veeam B&R covering the base product, e.g. installations, console etc? The recent series of posts about the update patch was in Windows agents which is why I missed it.

Hi Rob,

Any image host that allows direct linking to the images will do fine -- usually I use imgbb, but there are many you can use.

As for your other question, I've moved your topic to our Veeam Backup and Replication general forum, you can ask such questions here. Consider enabling the Weekly Digest from the User Profile > Board Preferences to get updated on popular topics on the forums for easier monitoring.

Thanks for both. I'll give imgbb a go (until that too gets blocked in UK!) and doh re general forum. I never scrolled down far enough to see top-level topics!

Later... and look at that, a topic about the current version ;-)

This is why VPNs exist 😉

Why not add built-in image upload to the forum? That would be more convenient. You could set an optional retention period to avoid any legal issues.

They were disabled like 15 years ago because they bloated the database. Can't imagine enabling them now when we have 100x more traffic than back then.

Also this capability encouraged people to post screenshots of errors and use this forum as a support forum, which it is not.

You may say that but those of us with community licenses, it's the main form of support. I gave up trying to use support tickets a few years ago as each one I raised was closed due to support being too busy. Which I understand and I wasn't expecting unpaid support. Hence support here. I've got one client using Veeam with a license and I've sometimes raised tickets that way for my own problems :-)
