Transfer tape records to new tapes - best practise?

Hi.

Scenario:
VBR server
2 tape servers
2 tape libraries

OLD tape library (LTO6)
NEW tape library (LT08)

Idea:
We want to copy content from LTO6 tapes to LTO8 tapes

How we planned to achieve this.
- First we would restore content from LT06 tapes into VBR backup repository.
Then we want to pust that content to LT08 in most optimal way?
option a) New tape job (Backups to tape) and select to backup repository (to which LT06 content was imported)?
option b) Or a new tape job (Files to tape job) and select the imported backups and store them to LT08 tape?

Any other recommended way, to move content from LT06 tape to LT08?

Interestingly feature. Will check it out.
Basically this copy tape feature copies 1 to 1 content?
Because the idea is to have a smaller amount of the tapes at the end, after we copy the content from LT06 to LT08 (which has more space).

Hi Bostjan,

The copy feature will write as much data as possible from the selected source media pool to the target tapes until they are full.
I recommend doing a short test run with a few tapes to get familiar with how it works.
