Dear Veeam Team,
I would like to submit a suggestion for improving Veeam Backup & Replication. The proposal is to add one or two new fields to the computer/group configuration: Description and optionally Notes.
Rationale:
Currently, there is no dedicated space to include additional information about the configured devices or groups. Adding these fields would allow us to:
Document relevant details about the computer’s role or characteristics.
Make it easier to identify and manage resources in complex environments.
Improve traceability and reduce ambiguity during backup and recovery operations.
Expected Benefits:
Greater clarity in resource administration.
Reduced operational errors.
Better organization and communication across teams.
Thank you for considering this enhancement. I am available to provide further details or participate in discussions regarding this improvement.
Best regards,
Skaixa

Re: Feature Resquest - Field Description or Notes
Hi,
Thank you for your reply!
The description field is definitely helpful and aligns with the purpose I mentioned. However, what I really need is the ability to add this kind of information at the individual computer level, not just at the group level.
For example, I might have a protection group that contains all my SQL servers, but within that group, I need to specify which application is running on each server. This is very useful for daily verification and validation processes.
Another example: we have an internal naming convention for computers like XXX456 or XXX875, but in practice, we often use nicknames for these machines such as Star, Mercury, or Saturn. Additionally, it would be extremely helpful to include the physical location of each server (e.g., Data Center A – Rack 12), as this information is critical for troubleshooting and maintenance.
Having a dedicated field for notes or descriptions per computer would make it much easier to manage and identify resources accurately.
Thank you for considering this clarification, and I’m happy to provide more details if needed.
