v13 upgrade

Post by 1dna »

Hello good veeamians :-)

So i have been tracking v13 for a while - usually as we have a bit larger setup - im not upgrading before Version.<1> - but how mature is v13 for now ? has other upgraded their production for now?

we have:

30 physical servers
600 vms
2 Tape Libs
Oracle vms/RMAN
200 Jobs.

Im not fancying a quick upgrade - just hoping to hear others - that would mind sharing their appraoch if so.

or please merge the thread for others :)

Hi, Lars

V13 software appliance has been solid after a few months since we made it available, but you can't upgrade to it right now (new deployments only).

V13 installable software for Windows is less than a week old, so obviously it is too early to talk about "maturity" here.

In terms of sheer adoption numbers, you can always find latest and greatest in the sticky Top Issues topic.

Thanks

Hi Lars,

Been using a Veeam for last 6 years, from experience, I recommend always create a non-prod instance with similar configuration and test the major builds release.
Every environment is different, upgrade may smooth as butter or many attempts till you get it then, so better to apply it on non-prod backup server.

So far, I have done V13 upgrade, had faced some challenges and working with support on that as well. Initially Veeam services were not coming up, had to manually re-install to get it running and re-register. Thou, I have seen such behavior when I moved from v11 to V12 in the past.

Still wondering if I'm sure about prod deployment, will have an update once I'm done it successfully for my non-prod.

Is it possible to upgrade to v13 Windows and then do a config restore to the v13 appliance?
