[BETA] [HPE] VME Plugin not applying in VBR after install

Post by dcolpitts »

I built an new VBR server yesterday on 2025, installed the latest 13.0.1 (with my NFR Ent+ license), and restored my configuration backup. Last night's backup relatively worked (there were issues, but they were self inflicted during replication due to disk size changes and stuff). This morning I installed the VME plugin, rebooted, and my only options for adding servers are still VMware or Hyper-V.

This probably is not a VME specific plug in issue.

Would it be related to my configuration backup being encrypted? (yes I know it's not supported with the VME Plugin, but I wouldn't expect that from letting me add a server).

Generally speaking, with any betas you need to use a clean install as this is how they are tested internally. While your issue may not be unrelated to restoring a configuration backup, just yesterday we found that a dirty database was causing issues to the XCP-ng beta, as you can see in the adjacent thread.

I would be extremely surprised if this beta was in "nothing works on a clean install" shape as our QA is not known for shipping completely dysfunctional code.

That could be Gostev - but I installed it into another existing system (a site that is 100% only VME) and it appears there, and I was able to do an image based backup of a VM that was natively created in VME. Migrated VMs are a different story as documented in the release notes. :-)
