Just curious, according to documentation and forum posts, the Bare metal restore from "backup copy jobs to object storage" impossible.
Bare metal restore from a backup created by a backup copy job is only possible if the backup resides in the Veeam backup repository or Veeam Cloud Connect repository. https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... tml?ver=13
However, I got it working. Is that wrong or right?
My test:
- primary backup from Windows agent to VBR
- on VBR, backup copy job to object storage (public cloud, S3-compatible)
- at destination, bare metal recovery from object storage
- Windows server up and running
Thanks.
Every Object Storage configured in Veeam Backup & Replication counts as a Veeam Backup Repository.
You can find a list of Veeam Backup Repositories in our Help Center.
One example: if you take a USB disk and copy the backup file from a backup copy job using Veeam Explorer to that external USB disk.
Then, connect the USB disk to the machine where you want to restore your data.
The Recovery Media will not be able to start a restore from such a location, because in that case, it’s not restored through the Veeam Backup & Replication server.
Backups created by Backup Copy Jobs must always be restored through a connection to the backup server.
